LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
By Jackeline Soto
It’s LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS??
3 DAY WEEKEND! WHOOOOOHOOOO!!!
Okay so real quick here’s a history lesson:
Labor Day occurs every first Monday of September, so the date is always different. And the national holiday is supposed to be a representation of the labor movements that helps chance social and economic inequalities between workers in the United States. It’s supposed to show “strength, prosperity, and the well-being of our country” so pretty much labor day is a day were we celebrate the values and morals that were used to create these wonder labor achievements. Now as to who created the holiday, it’s up to do there is great debate whether Matthew Maguire or Peter McGuire created it, and of course you get to decide.
How do people celebrate?
Well since a lot of people have this holiday off they celebrate it in many different ways.
1- You can have a BBQ with friends and family and just have a wonderful time together.
2- Camping! Camping makes total sense because it’s still summer so the woods are nice and children and parents have Monday off which results in a glorious three day trip away from electronic devices.
3- Parties. Throw a get together, that’s right together your friends for beer, pizza and some great music.
4-. Go to a parade! A lot of neighborhoods have Labor Day parades. Go online and search for some near you!
5- Since it’s probably your only day off, make it relaxing go for an early morning hike and rewind. Take in the sun and the views and just appreciate your surroundings (something that we often forget to do).
6- If you have the day off MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR ALARM CLOCK OFF. YOU CAN NOW SLEEP IN. Wake up at whatever time you’d like and start your day with a creamy cup of coffee and Leaner Creamer! If you start your day with Leaner Creamer you’re guaranteed a great start to your day!
