Settling down with a nice dinner just got a whole lot healthier. Check out these tips for are easy ways to make your 3rd square meal pack the most punch.
Balance it: Pasta and garlic bread might be a delicious combination, but that's not what you'd call a balanced meal. Make sure you aren't overloading on any one macronutrient -- throw in a combination of complex carbs, healthy fats, and protein to make sure that your meal is giving you all the best benefits that your body deserves.
Drink more water: No one's saying you have to skip your evening glass of wine with dinner. Heck, pour yourself a big glass, bartender! But make sure you aren't replacing your liquid intake with alcohol. If you drink a glass of wine with dinner, be sure to have a glass of water alongside it.
Make it your smallest meal: As the saying goes: "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper". Make dinner your smallest meal so that your body doesn't have to work into overdrive while you're sleeping to digest. That's not to say you should starve yourself -- the opposite, in fact. Eat slowly and until you're comfortable, but not completely satiated. You'll feel and look better -- a double whammy!
Make it at home: It might be easy to stop by McDonald's on the way home from work, but does that make it the best option? You already know the answer to that. The healthiest, and often times most cost-effective way to eat is from your own kitchen. Try eating at home more -- your wallet and your waistline will thank you.
Use a smaller plate: This is a classic trick that helps you eat smaller portions (see the tip above to find out why its actually healthy to eat smaller portions for dinner). When you use a smaller plate, you trick your brain into thinking there's more food on your plate that there actually is. Easy, right?
