How to Do Daily Affirmations

One of the hardest things to change our minds about is, rather ironically, ourselves. Sometimes we may not believe ourselves capable of certain tasks, dismissing ourselves as not the right person for the job. But the power to improve our lives exist within us all, and sometimes it helps to give ourselves reminders of our potential. And this is why we do daily affirmations…

Decide what the affirmations are

Take some time and think about what the affirmations should be. Do you want to instill the belief that you’re an active person, or that you are kind, or witty? Think about the things you want to see more in yourself. Or if you’re feeling low about yourself, think of your best qualities and all the positive things you like about yourself.

Write them down

Decide which order makes the most sense and put them on paper. Handwritten. Or typed. Or made pretty with glitter and glue. You can also be creative and do it as a poem or a declaration of intent or something. You’re never not allowed to be creative if you want to be.

Put them somewhere that you will see everyday

Put it where you’ll see it. Maybe where you brush your teeth. Maybe where you get dressed. Maybe where you break your fast. Just so long as you get to look at that document everyday.

Leave them there

Don’t take them down. And remember, change does not occur overnight. The deep seeded beliefs we hold about ourselves that we need to get rid of can take a long time to dislodge. So give it time. Give yourself time to find out your true potential. You might just surprise yourself.
