Happy National MilkShake Day!

By Jackeline Soto

It’s September 12!!! You know what that means!!! That it’s time for MILK SHAKES!! Yup, because it’s not every day that we dedicate an entire day to milkshakes. And usually milkshakes have the connotation of being a sugary drink because of all the unnecessary sugar in them. But what if I told you there was a recipe that may be high in sugars but that’s not because of the sugars added but because of all the fruit added into the drink, then this drink is no longer unhealthy but healthy right? Right? And the answer is “You right, Jacks”. Okay so the following is a recipe that I found online that I’ve changed a teeny tiny bit but not too much.

What you need:

2 Already chopped frozen bananas

Big handful of spinach

1/3 Cup frozen strawberries

2 cups of Vanilla Almond Milk (Preferably unsweetened but if you don’t have that in your fridge that’s alright use what you have, regular milk is fine too).

A Splash of agave

1/3 cup ice

3 Tablespoons cocoa powder

1 Tablespoon Flaxseed Meal

2 Tablespoon almond butter

2 Tablespoons Leaner Creamer

What you need to do:

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. TBH at this point you’re probably already a professional at blending ingredients!

Enjoy!

Remember if you feel like you want more for a chocolate taste then add more cocoa powder if you’re not a big fan of chocolate and want to taste more of the fruits then add less cocoa powder. If the cocoa powder isn’t doing much for you and you were hoping for something sweeter go ahead and add a dash more of agave *No one is looking and I won’t tell*

If this milkshake too thick then add less almond milk or if you want it a bit thicker add a bit more ice and almond milk!

And there you have it folks a healthy and delicious milkshake to have for breakfast, as a post workout snack, or even dessert!
