Cut Back on Sugar w/ These Tips
The holiday season is full of sugary treats and sometimes you just need to retreat a little bit and take care of your health. So with the following tip, you should be able to cut back on sugar, and obviously you don’t have to follow all of them but if you follow one or two I’m sure you’ll see the results you’re hoping for!
Clean the house:
Just as the title suggests, take out any sugary temptation that resides in your home or at work! This should help because out of sight and out of mind! So get rid of your holiday candy or the stash you hide away from your family because the more you clean up the environment you live in the less tempted you’ll be!
Back-Up Plan:
Still craving some chocolate? Distract yourself, for the time being. Paint your nails, clean your room, or go for a nice walk because most cravings usually last about fifteen to twenty minutes so after that your craving should go away. If you continue to do this every time you have a craving you’ll help this become a healthy habit! And sooner rather than later you’ll be kicking sugar to the curb.
Cinnamon:
Are you craving sugar? Sprinkle some cinnamon onto your coffee, tea, or toast! Cinnamon is perfect because cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar through digestion, helps support your immune system and promotes a healthy circulation for an added bonus!!
Use Fruit:
Are you craving some more sugar? Try eating some fruit as an exchange for the processed sugar that our bodies are so used to. You can make homemade fruit popsicles, apples, or peaches as a natural sweet treat. You’re probably thinking well fruit has a lot of sugar right? Well yes this may be true, it’s natural sugar and fruits normally contain fiber and other nutrients that are good for you.
I understand that it may be too late to get rid of all the sugar you currently have in your household but you can definitely get rid of temptation about two or three days after the major holidays because it’s pointless to get rid of the goods you have all worked on!
