How Many Calories Do You Really Burn During Fitness Classes
Fitness classes are an awesome way to get up and get active -- but how many calories are you really burning during a single fitness class? We've got the skinny on workout classes so that you can pick the form of exercise that is best for you! Check out the surprising facts right here!
1. Spin classes - 300 calories per 30 minutes
Spin classes are like the OG of fitness classes. I mean, hello, SoulCycle! And for good reason. Spin classes torch up to 300 calories per half hour! If your goal is to lose weight, a spin class would be an excellent option for you.
2. Kickboxing classes - 300 calories per 30 minutes
Phew! Kickboxing really will work up a sweat. In just 30 minutes of a kickboxing class, you will burn 300 calories. Those fast movements help you look and feel great, so keep up the good work!
3. Barre classes - 150 calories per 30 minutes
Barre classes focus on repetitive movements to help tone and tighten your body. While the cardio aspect is not as intense as, say, a cycling class, you're still burning a fair amount of calories. Adding heavier weights or more resistance will help you burn even more calories!
4. Pilates classes - 180 calories per 30 minutes
A typical pilates class will burn around 180 calories per each 30 minute session. Pilates focuses more on toning and tightening than burning calories, but regardless, you will leave with your body feeling (and looking) like it's on fire!
5. Yoga classes - 300 calories per 30 minutes
Yoga comes in such a variety, it is hard to put an exact number on how many calories you burn. However, a power yoga class that is of a high intensity (we're looking at you, CorePower) can burn up to 300 calories in 30 minutes. Lower intensity yoga classes burn only around 150 per 30 minutes... but hey, at least you get to Savasana!
